Gazpacho Adapted from Barefoot Contessa

A wonderful fresh gazpacho. It gets better day by day; after a week (in the frig!) it is simply outstanding. I have made this using the food processor but then add some hand-diced tomatoes for additional texture. A great summer meal. -- posted by BarbryT

July 31, 2009 — Leave it to the guy who originated shhhhh? "It Happens" to recast a medley of Sugarland songs as a story about needing to find a bathroom on the interstate. Bobby Pinson has plenty of reason to laugh these days, and he laughed a lot at Thursday’s No. 1 party at BMI, where he was toasted for topping the charts with Sugarland’s Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles as the authors of "It Happens" and "Already Gone."

Creole Brown Rice, Vegetarian Style

This recipe is an easy way to make a quick meal and can be coverted to non-vegetarian quick simply. It has all the good things in it and all the tastes one likes when thinking of "creole" food. You can make it hotter by adding more of the creole seasoning and the cayenne pepper. I serve it with a tossed salad and garlic bread sticks. My meat eaters even like it because the sausage substitute I use meets the taste and smell requirements for sausage. Cooking time does not include the time to steam the rice -- posted by OceanLuvinGranny

Hot Wassail

This recipe comes from the Bank of the SW, Houston, Texas. Years ago, they served this wonderful drink, along with gingerbread, in their lobby where it was made fresh for the customers. I have used it for years during the holidays and I want to place it here for safe-keeping and for anyone who wishes to serve this incredible drink to their family and friends. -- posted by Nancy's Pantry
