Brennan's Bread Pudding With Brandy Sauce

When most bread goes stale it gets tossed in the trash or fed to the birds. But for some lucky loaves, going stale is just the beginning of a transformation into bread pudding - the ambrosial dessert that is a mainstay finale at Creole restaurants across New Orleans. This recipe comes from a restaurant in the French Quarter in New Orleans. The thick creamy sauce is what makes it a truly memorable dessert. -- posted by Nadia Melkowits

Mimi's American Chop Suey

When I was little my mom made this recipe a lot. It was during World War II and it was very inexpensive to prepare. I loved it. I guess you would call it a comfort food for me as I was always so happy when I asked, "What's for supper" and Ma answered, "Chop Suey". She never called it "American Chop Suey" except on her recipe card. It was always "Chop Suey". I can't believe that I haven't posted this as I still make it often. Ancient Harvesting History of Black Pepper - The Most Popular and Most Important Spice in History

Black pepper is undoubtedly the most popular and important spice in the world. The history of this spice can be traced back to ancient civilizations. Black peppercorns are the unripe berries that have been sun-dried, while white peppercorns are just black peppercorns with their outer skins rubbed off.

Buy Your Seafood Only From the Best of Sources

Anyone trying to put together a healthy diet needs to control the sources of all the different food items that they consume on a regular basis. This is because not all food products are of the same quality: some come from pristine sources, whereas others are grown in contaminated environments and carry harmful ingredients in them that ought to be avoided at all cost. When it comes to seafood, a lot of products contain high levels of mercury or PCBs, in particular farmed fish and fish harvested in heavily polluted waters. Alaska's fisheries, on the other hand, are without a doubt the best environmental choice in seafood and provide high quality seafood products that are free of all the harmful chemicals found in other samples.

The fresher's culture in particular provides ample persuasion in the form of L1 drinks, 7-stop bar crawls, clubbing, house parties and of course sleeping all of that off, in preference of freshly cooked food. How to Throw a Successful Party on a Small Budget - Associated Content

How to Throw a Successful Party on a Small Budget - Associated Content: "I’ve thrown all sorts of get-togethers with limited means for the past five years. I’ve thrown BBQs, birthday parties, bridal showers, anniversaries and even planned my own wedding. I’ll show you how planning ahead, shopping for supplies on sale, and lots of do-it-yourself projects can keep a great deal of money where it belongs: in your pocket. Let’s start with planning ahead.

Believe it or not, time is your best friend when you’re planning a party and have only a small amount of money to work with. The first thing to decide is where it’s going to be held, and when. Your best bet is to have the party at someone’s house and during the warmer months. This way, you won’t have to pay a recreation hall for the space, and if it’s a beautiful day, you’ll double the available space if people mingle not only inside, but outside as well. Once you’ve got that taken care of, decide on one or two main things that you consider a priority. Are you having a theme? Do you absolutely have to hire a caterer? How important to the guest of honor is entertainment (i.e. dj, band)? If these types of things are decided on far enough in advance, you’ll have a better idea of how much money you have for supplies what kind you’ll need. Let me fill you in on a few great ways to purchase them at reduced prices."
